DLT Policy
Last updated: 25 September 2026
1. What is DLT?
DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) is the blockchain-based platform mandated by TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) that all businesses must use to register before sending commercial SMS in India. It was introduced to curb spam and unauthorised messaging, and registration on DLT is legally mandatory — not optional — for any business sending bulk SMS.
2. Why DLT Registration Is Required
Without a registered entity, sender header and approved message template on the DLT platform, telecom operators will block your SMS traffic. This applies to both transactional and promotional messages, though the two follow slightly different compliance rules.
3. What Gets Registered
- Principal Entity (PE) registration — your business is registered as the sender of messages, using your business PAN and other KYC documents
- Sender ID / Header registration — the 6-character sender ID that appears as who the SMS is from (e.g. “MYSMSK”)
- Template registration — the exact wording of each message you intend to send, with variable fields marked, submitted for approval before it can be used
4. Customer Responsibilities
As the business sending messages, you are responsible for:
- Providing accurate business KYC documents for Principal Entity registration
- Ensuring message templates submitted for approval match exactly what is sent (no unapproved changes)
- Not sending promotional content through a transactional route, or vice versa
- Maintaining consent records where required for promotional messaging
5. MySMSKart’s Role
MySMSKart assists customers with the DLT registration process — guiding entity registration, sender ID application, and template submission — as part of onboarding. However, the registration itself is filed under your business’s identity on the DLT platform, and final compliance responsibility rests with you as the Principal Entity.
6. Non-Compliance Consequences
Messages sent without valid DLT registration, or using unapproved templates, will be blocked by telecom operators and will not reach recipients. Repeated violations can also result in your sender ID or entity being blacklisted on the DLT platform.
7. Timelines
DLT registration timelines depend on document verification and telecom operator processing, and are outside MySMSKart’s direct control. We aim to submit your registration promptly once you provide complete documentation.
